Small Business Issues Committee Meeting

Description

This committee will review legislation from the state, regional, and local levels to ensure that small businesses can be successful and be economically competitive in the region.  Potential issues may include, but are not limited to: labor & employment mandates, minimum wage, industry-specific taxes & fees, small business financing, etc.

This special meeting will discuss the impacts of the following items:

• AB 286, which would make it unlawful for third-party food delivery platforms to impose specified charges on restaurants and customers that exceed 15% of an online order purchase price
• AB 1302, which would prohibit cannabis businesses from advertising or marketing on a billboard within a 15-mile radius of the California border on an Interstate Highway or on a State Highway
• AB 61, which would provide temporary regulatory flexibility statewide to help facilitate more outdoor dining, and more take-out and delivery options
• Laura's Law, which the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors will be voting on in May. This would allow county courts to compel assisted outpatient treatment for individuals with a history of mental illness and pose a violent threat to themselves or others
• SB 389, which would permanently allow restaurants to sell cocktails to-go as part of take-out or delivery food orders
