Tony Mirenda is a member of Blach Construction’s senior management team and has served as a Project Executive, and now their Development Executive for the company. With Mirenda’s expertise and leadership, Blach has steadily developed its mixed-use and multifamily residential construction markets with several new projects, including the mega Gateway to Millbrae Station, College Terrace Centre in Palo Alto, CA and Casa del Pueblo in San Jose, CA. He has also been heavily involved in the public education market with over 35 years of experience using all phases of contract delivery including CM, CM-Multiple Prime, CM At-Risk, Design-Build and Lease-Leaseback for over a dozen different Districts and a major student housing project repair, rehabilitation, and renovation at UC Santa Cruz. He also supports the company’s growth through his extensive network of relationships within the community where he sits on and in many cases Chairs several industry and non-profit Boards including the J.W. House, S4CA (co-Founder of Santa Clara County Construction Careers Association), the St. Francis High School Endowment Board, The San Jose Chamber of Commerce Board and Executive Committee (where he also serves as the 2022 Board Chair), the East Side Union High School District Career Pathways Advisory Board, St. Joseph Parish in Fremont “Facilities Committee”, and The Sovereign Order of Malta’s Western Association Program Director for their “Growing The Faith” committee, and is also the Hospitaller for the San Jose location. Mirenda continues 17 years of set designing and construction for the Spring Musical sets for St. Francis High School’s incredible Drama Program.

Born and raised in Mountain View/Silicon Valley, Mirenda, 63, has spent his entire 40+ year professional career there and has worked on and led many of Silicon Valley’s landmark construction projects including the St. Joseph Cathedral Restoration and Renovation project, the Repair and Rehabilitation for the Old County Courthouse in San Jose, and one of the first public school Lease-Leaseback projects in Northern California for San Jose Unified School District. He also spent 10 years working on several landmark projects for Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies in their World Corporate Headquarters and Corporate Campus, including Executive Offices. Mirenda began his construction career in 1982, after earning a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University. Shortly thereafter, he received both a General Contractor’s license as well as his Professional Civil Engineer’s license that he recently retired with the State under their new PER program. He worked for the Carl N. Swenson Co. until 1987, when he joined TBI Construction. Mirenda helped build TBI rapidly advancing within the firm up to the role of President and was honored as Contractor of the Year in the San Jose Business Journal. In 2004, he ultimately purchased the company from owners Chuck Toeniskoetter and Dan Breeding. In 2012, Mirenda closed TBI and joined Blach Construction Company along with several of his employees and accounts.

He, married 35 years to his lovely wife Jennifer, has two successful children: Angeline (a professional actor/dancer/singer in Hollywood), and Phil (a young Project Manager in the Construction industry, representing four generations of Mirendas in the construction of Silicon Valley). Mirenda was honored in 2018 by the Boy Scouts of America as recipient of their prestigious Character Award. And in 2019, he was honored at the President’s Club Dinner as recipient of the Saint Andre of Montreal Service Award at his alma mater, St. Francis High School in Mountain View.

Mirenda loves professional sports and is a passionate fan of his San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, and Golden State Warriors. He also enjoys freshwater fishing and designing/building projects in his workshop, using skills he developed from his upbringing as a journeyman Carpenter that he earned while he was obtaining his BSCE from Santa Clara University.
